This coming Monday, WCIU-TV -- better known as "The U!" -- will seem like a lot of different stations other than WCIU. The Weigel Broadcasting station has permission from ESPN-TV to simulcast the ESPN Monday Night Football broadcast of the Chicago Bears taking on the Green Bay Packers. The station is also partnering up WSCR-AM and WGN-TV to bring two exclusive local pre-game shows and one exclusive local post-game show on Monday night.
On Monday, September 27th, the Bears game will be taking place on ESPN's Monday Night Football. ESPN is part of any cable or satellite television's basic package, but many Chicagoans who do not have cable or satellite will be unable to see the game. WCIU-TV, which can be seen in Chicagoland households via digital airwaves, will carry the game for those people.
Prior to the game's start at 7:30pm, WCIU will have two special pre-game shows.
At 6:30pm, WCIU-TV & WSCR-AM present "Turf Wars: Football's Greatest Rivalry." The 30 minute special about the ongoing Bears/Packers heated competition will be hosted by The Score's Laurence Holmes. Chicago Bears legends and Score hosts Ed O'Bradovich, Doug Buffone and Dan Hampton will share stories about the battles between the two teams. The special has already been shot within the Score's radio studios and is awaiting to be aired.
Immediately following that special, from 7:00pm-7:30pm will be the "Hyundai Night Football Pregame Report." This live show is done for WCIU-TV by WGN Sports. WGN-TV sports anchor Dan Roan will be the host of this pre-game show, coming from Soldier Field in Chicago.
Immediately following the end of the game (approximately 10:30pm, give or take 15 minutes), Dan Roan will be back with a live Bears Post-Game show from Soldier Field.
All of the aforementioned Bears broadcasts can be found on Monday night on WCIU-TV HD 26.1, RCN 6, RCN HD 606, WOW 6, WOW HD 207, AT&T U-verse 10, AT&T U-verse HD 1010, DirecTV HD 26 and Dish Network 26. Comcast customers should check their cable guides for the channel position in their area; the Comcast HD channel is 183.
