WLS-TV Partners With American Red Cross For 3rd Annual 'ABC 7 Great Chicago Blood Drive'

January is National Blood Donor Month. For the third year in a row, WLS-TV/ABC 7 is teaming up with the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago and Northern Illinois to host a blood drive in Chicagoland, which will be held on Monday, January 9th. As they did last year, the all-day blood drive will take place at two different locations -- one in the city and one in the suburbs.

Terry Boers Retires, Says 'Thanks For The Memories'

WSCR-AM/670 The Score gave an incredible salute to retiring host Terry Boers for over five hours on Thursday afternoon. Called "The Toast To Terry," the program, hosted by Boers himself, was the final-ever radio broadcast for one of the sports talk station's original hosts, featuring an amazing group of over 30 guests in front of an intimate crowd of co-workers and admirers.

BIG 95.5's Steve Stewart Takes Over Hosting USRN's 'The Road' Weekly Show

WEBG-FM/BIG 95.5 Program Director and midday host Steve Stewart has added to his work duties. Effective this weekend, Stewart will take over as the host of the United Stations Radio Networks (USRN) syndicated weekend live Country music show, "The Road." Additionally, WEBG-FM will now become the flagship radio home of "The Road," which is heard on nearly 100 stations nationwide.

Tammie Souza Announces Her Departure From FOX 32

Longtime Chicago meteorologist Tammie Souza announced she will be leaving WFLD-TV/FOX 32 and the city later this winter. She has accepted a position as evening meteorologist at WCAU-TV/NBC 10 in Philadelphia.

WGCI's Johnnie D Promoted To Program Director

Johnnie D, who has been the Assistant Program Director for WGCI-FM/107.5-WGCI and WVAZ-FM/V103 for a year and a half, has been promoted to the role of WGCI-FM Program Director. He becomes the first official PD for the station since the start of December 2014.

WCGO-AM Revamps Saturday Mornings, Adds Mighty House & Mike Nowak

WCGO-AM 1590 is making some changes with its Saturday morning lineup, adding two new shows that should be familiar to Chicago AM radio audiences. Starting January 7th, "Mighty House Home Improvement Radio" and "The Mike Nowak Show" will both be heard on WCGO-AM, as part of that station's new "Smart Living Saturdays."

Ben Bradley Joins WGN-TV As Investigative Reporter

WGN-TV has announced the hiring of Ben Bradley as the station's newest investigative reporter for WGN Investigates. Bradley, the former WLS-TV/ABC 7 news anchor/reporter, begins with WGN-TV effective today.

93.9 MYfm Makes Midday Change: Brooke Hunter Out, Robin Rock Returns

WLIT-FM/93.9 MYfm has released one Chicago radio veteran and re-hired another. Midday host Brooke Hunter, who has been with WLIT-FM for three and a half years, was informed this morning that her services were no longer needed at the station. Robin Rock, who was released from WLIT-FM in 2013 after 16 years with the station, has been re-hired and returns back to her former role as midday personality. The changes are effective immediately.

WSCR's Terry Boers To Be Toasted On Thursday

WSCR-AM/670 The Score celebrated its 25th anniversary on Monday. Since Terry Boers is one of the original Score hosts, he also celebrated his 25th anniversary at the station, as well. It will be his final anniversary there, as he will retire on Thursday afternoon. The station will be holding a special broadcast to honor the host called "Toast To Terry," airing Thursday from 1:00pm-6:00pm.

Chicagoans Turn To Their Televisions On New Year's Eve 2016/2017

With five New Year's Eve countdown broadcasts happening virtually simultaneously, the Chicago market had their televisions on to watch the clock strike midnight on this past Saturday night. Of the five broadcasts, three came from Chicago, while two were national. There was also a local comedy special, as well as a local music special happening at the same time. It was a busy night for special television shows and two of the Chicago broadcasts rang in decent ratings for their stations.

Kathy Voltmer Exits WDRV & Hubbard Radio Chicago

Beloved Chicago radio veteran Kathy Voltmer has been working in Chicago radio since 1986 and with WDRV-FM/97.1 The Drive since very soon after its inception over 15 years ago. As of this week, she is gone from WDRV-FM, gone from Hubbard Radio Chicago, and looking for her next opportunity in media.

JBTV's 28th Annual 'Safe Drive Live Music Marathon' Premieres Saturday

JBTV -- Chicago's longest-running television program dedicated to new, local, independent, rock, and alternative music and artists -- will once again be presenting its annual "Don't Drink and Drive" holiday special this year. The 28th annual special, which two years ago was renamed as the "JBTV Safe Drive Live Music Marathon" to better incorporate all forms of impaired and distracted driving, is as big as ever.

Is Another All-Sports Station Coming To The Chicago Market In 2017?

Chicagoans love their sports and sports talk on the radio. Because of that, a group of investors are taking serious looks into launching another all-sports radio station in the Chicagoland area in the first half of 2017. While this is not yet a definite plan, it now looks as if has a strong chance of happening.
