Cubs Broadcaster Ron Santo To Have Statue Placed At Wrigley Field In 2011

Chicago Cubs Broadcaster and former third baseman Ron Santo will be honored with a statue, placed just outside of Wrigley Field. Tom Ricketts, Chairman of the Chicago Cubs organization, made the announcement at this weekend's Cubs Convention.

Ray Hanania Cancels His Daily Radio Show

This past weekend, Ray Hanania decided to cancel his WJJG-AM morning radio show effective immediately. This comes just days after Hanania's announcement that he was taking a three month hiatus from the show. There were a few factors leading up to this decision, but his health was reason #1.

WTMX-FM's Eric Ferguson Wins Co-Host Spot On 'Regis & Kelly'

WTMX-FM's Eric Ferguson, who was among the finalists to win a one day guest spot as co-host on the syndicated television show "Live with Regis & Kelly," has indeed won the opportunity to appear on national television. He is now one of only five men who won the "Men Of Radio: Co-Host For A Day" contest.

Byron Harlan's New Radio Show To Debut Tomorrow On WIND-AM

Tomorrow morning, former WFLD-TV anchor, Byron Harlan moves to his new radio home. The new show "Talkin' Money with Harlan & Harper" will air Sunday morning at 7:00am. Each Sunday from this point on, the one-hour show will be able to be heard at that time.

WGN-TV/CLTV/WGN-AM To Broadcast Live Mayoral Debate January 27

The Chicago Tribune and City Club of Chicago are teaming up to host a major mayoral debate on Thursday, January 27, at 7:00pm. The four major contenders to become the next City of Chicago Mayor -- Gery Chico, Miguel del Valle, Rahm Emanuel and Carol Moseley Braun (listed in alphabetical order) -- will be taking part in the debate. The one-hour debate will be broadcast live on television on WGN-TV and CLTV, and on radio on WGN-AM.

'The Green Hornet' To Sting All Day Saturday On Me-TV

The major motion picture of "The Green Hornet" arrived in theaters nationwide today. The comedic-action movie starring Seth Rogan has received only mixed reviews by film critics, although. Fans of the 1960's television series have been even more unkind to the movie. If you choose to not see the big screen version of "The Green Hornet," or if you want to experience a more serious version of the hero, Me-TV is making that wish come true. Tomorrow, Saturday, January 15th, Me-TV will air a 13 hour marathon of classic "Green Hornet" episodes.

ChicagoSportsWebio Owner/Ponzi Schemer David Hernandez Sentenced To Prison

The owner and founder of the short-lived Internet sports talk radio station ChicagoSportsWebio.com, David Hernandez was sentenced today to spend close to the next 17 years in a Federal prison. The 50 year old Downers Grove man was also ordered to pay restitution of $6.4 million to the over 250 people he conned that amount out of in a Ponzi scheme.

WCIU-TV Testing Jerry Springer's 'Baggage' For NBCU

WCIU-TV -- best known as Channel 26, "The U" -- is helping out NBC Universal Television Distribution by being a test station for the TV game show, "Baggage." The show began on the air for WCIU-TV this week and will run for a total of ten weeks. If reaction to the show is positive -- and more importantly, if the ratings are positive -- then NBCU will look to syndicate the show nationwide, beginning with the 2011 Fall season.

Museum Of Broadcast Communications Website Debuts New TV Commercials Exhibit

The website for the Museum of Broadcast Communications has started a new online exhibit called "We'll Be Right Back: 60 Years Of Television Commercials." The new exhibit, which made its debut earlier today, currently has 145 commercials posted, hand-picked from the Museum's vast archive of over 10,000 commercials.

Comcast SportsNet To Provide Bears Playoff Coverage

As they did during the regular season, Comcast SportsNet will provide extensive coverage for the Chicago Bears, now that it is post-season time for the team. Although no games have or will be shown on its airwaves (or cable feed, if you will), Chicago's sports station plans on going all out for the Bears this month -- or for as long as the team's post-season rolls on.

Roy Patterson Named Station Manager of WMBI-FM & WMBI-AM

After a three-month search to find the right person, Moody Radio Chicago found him right under their noses, as Moody today named Pastor Roy Patterson its newest Station Manager. Roy Patterson will now be responsible for overseeing all of the programming on WMBI-FM & WMBI-AM.
