SBS' La Ley 107.9 Revamps Lineup With Former Univision Hosts

The one and only local radio station for the Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS), WLEY-FM/107.9 La Ley recently revamped its line-up, filling it with some of the many hosts from Univision radio stations that lost their jobs in the spring when Univision nationalized most of its programming, as well as Univision hosts from the last few years. This includes one of the largest radio stars of the past decade, who now has returned to Chicago FM radio via 107.9 La Ley.

WMAQ-TV Once Again Offers Chicago Non-Profits Social Innovation Grants

WMAQ-TV/NBC 5 Chicago, partnering with the NBCUniversal Foundation, announced today that for the third year in a row, it is launching their grant program, 21st Century Solutions. As it did in 2012 and 2013, the annual grant program will award three prizes totaling $100,000 to worthy Chicago area non-profit organizations.

WLIT-FM Adds New 'Rendezvous' Show With Former WGN-AM Host Simon Badinter

WLIT-FM/93.9 My FM has picked up the syndicated nightly relationship show "The Rendezvous with Simon and Kim." The new show premieres locally tonight and marks the return to Chicago radio by former WGN-AM talk show host Simon Badinter.

Report: WGN America To Drop Cubs, Chicago Sports Programming

Tribune Broadcasting's cable/satellite station WGN America will soon stop carrying any Chicago sports broadcasts to its national audience. The move is part of the company's plan to convert WGN America from a "superstation" to a basic, independent cable station.

Chicago Urban Radio Stations Team-Up For Anti-Gun Special

Five different radio stations from three different radio corporations will all be airing the same special presentation Sunday night. The two-hour talk show on Sunday is called "Sunday Night Open Mic" and will be part of City of Chicago's new "Put The Guns Down" initiative.

October 31, 2014 Declared 'Svengoolie/Rich Koz Day' In Illinois

October 31st is Halloween -- a day when children and the young at heart have fun with ghosts, ghouls, and goblins. This upcoming Halloween will also be a special day for Chicago's favorite television ghoul, Svengoolie. A few days ago, the Illinois General Assembly passed Illinois House Resolution 1041, which officially declares October 31, 2014 as Svengoolie/Rich Koz Day in the State of Illinois.

Chicago Public Media To Self-Distribute 'This American Life'

Chicago Public Media announced today that it will begin self-distributing its long-running, multi-award-winning, syndicated public radio show "This American Life." The independent distribution will begin on July 1st to over 580 radio stations worldwide.

WBEZ-FM To Host 2nd Annual 'Days Of Service' Two-Day Event

For the second year in a row, Chicago public radio station WBEZ-FM will team up with the local non-profit service organization Chicago Cares. Together, these two outfits will co-host the two-day Chicagoland community volunteer event "Days of Service."

A fashion show is being held on Thursday night to benefit a local non-profit. The event will feature numerous media personalities from Chicago television and print, who will be coming out to support the fashion creations of a famed Chicago designer.

WGN Radio Calls In The Reserves For Memorial Day 2014

WGN-AM broadcasts with a live host for nearly 24 hours a day, seven days of the week. With tomorrow being Memorial Day and most of the station's regular hosts given the day off, WGN Radio is calling in many of its reserve hosts.

White Sox Hold 'Bullpen Bracket First Pitch Contest' Featuring 8 Local Media Stars

The Chicago White Sox are currently holding a promotion where eight local radio and television celebrities will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. After that, fans will be able to vote on which celebrity's pitch they liked best in an online four-way bracket competition. Voting for the "Bullpen Bracket First Pitch Contest" begins Sunday.

WLS-TV To Broadcast Chicago's Memorial Day Parade

WLS-TV/ABC 7 Chicago will have the exclusive broadcast of Chicago's annual Memorial Day Parade. Although the parade takes place on Saturday, the broadcast itself will be shown on WLS-TV on Sunday afternoon.

Four Chicago TV Newscasts Can Claim Victory From May 2014 Ratings Sweeps

Newscasts from four Chicago television stations can each claim victory from the just-ended important May 2014 "sweeps" period: WLS-TV, WGN-TV, WMAQ-TV, and believe it or not, WFLD-TV. Each of these four stations would be correct, too. It's all dependent on which part of the May ratings reports a station chooses to look at.

Ed Schultz Leaving Radio; WCPT-AM/FM To Alter Lineup
