WRXQ-FM Promotes Elwood To Assistant Program Director

WRXQ-FM/Q Rock 100.7 has named morning show host Elwood as the station's Assistant Program Director (APD). In addition to his new APD duties, Elwood will continue on as morning drive personality for the station, where he has been for the past two years.

2014 Chicago Cubs Convention Brings Out Special TV & Radio Coverage

WGN-AM, the longtime radio home for the Chicago Cubs, and Comcast SportsNet Chicago, the local sports television network which airs the most Cubs games, are each planning to broadcast special programming from and about the 2014 Cubs Convention, which starts on Friday.

Ted Brunson Seeking Assistance To Bring 'Brunson's Best' To TV

Ted Brunson wishes to turn his restaurant/food review video series "Brunson's Best" into a local television series. He is asking the help of fans to financially support the venture. This is being done via a newly-launched crowdfunding campaign.

Tom Marker Remaining At WXRT

In 1897, Mark Twain wrote in the New York Journal "the report of my death was an exaggeration." Similarly, an online report last month of Tom Marker's exit from WXRT-FM after 33 years was not correct. Marker was with 93XRT last month, remains there still, and plans on being part of the station going into the future.

Patrick Elwood Joins WGN-TV As Freelance Reporter

Veteran Chicago news reporter Patrick Elwood will be seen on WGN-TV newscasts as a reporter on a per diem basis. Elwood was previously seen on WFLD-TV as a reporter and anchor for 14 years.

US99.5's Drew Walker Moving To Middays

WUSN-FM/US99.5 afternoon star Drew Walker will be making a move next week. Starting Monday, Walker will become the station's new midday host, working the 10:00am-3:00pm shift.

Comcast SportsNet Chicago To Air Special Programming For Hall Of Famer Frank Thomas

Chicago White Sox superstar and Comcast SportsNet Chicago contributor Frank Thomas was today elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame. To celebrate this prestigious accomplishment, CSN Chicago will be altering its normal broadcast schedule for the next two days to salute Thomas by offer a great deal of exclusive programming.

WGN Morning News Wins Ratings On Polar Vortex Monday

On Monday morning, while Chicagoland was stuck in a record-setting deep freeze, more television viewers turned to WGN-TV that any other local station. The WGN Morning News was #1 in the ratings in overall households from 6:00am-10:00am, and #1 with Adults 25-54 from 5:00am-10:00am.

Che 'Rhymefest' Smith Hosting New Weekly Show On WVON-AM

With no fanfare, WVON-AM premiered a new talk show on Monday night, hosted by the Grammy Award-winning Che "Rhymefest" Smith. The new show will now air each Monday evening from 6:00pm-9:00pm.

Rick O'Dell's SmoothJazzChicago.net Comes To HD Radio

Greg Solk, Senior Vice President of Programming for Hubbard Radio Chicago, announced today that Rick O'Dell's highly regarded Internet radio station, SmoothJazzChicago.net, will also be simulcast on WTMX-HD2. The simulcast begins today (Tuesday) at Noon.

WGN-AM Hires Dave Plier As Weekend Host

WGN-AM has officially hired popular fill-in host Dave Plier, after over a year of freelancing for the station. Plier will have the permanent spot of late Saturday night/early Sunday morning 2:00am-5:00am. Additionally, he will continue to fill-in for the station's weekday hosts during holidays, and could figure into an even bigger role on WGN-AM later in the year, after the WGN.FM project expands and some AM hosts shift to the new FM station.
