WBBM's Erik Bradley Officially Named APD/MD Of WCFS

This news was first leaked here on this site last Friday, but today CBS Radio Chicago has made the news official. WBBM-FM's APD/MD Erik Bradley has been named as the APD/MD of WCFS-FM. Bradley will now be the Assistant Program Director and Music Director for BOTH CBS-owned radio stations in town. The promotion is effective immediately.

Comcast SportsNet Catches Chicago Bears Fever

The Chicago Bears will have their regular season games shown on many networks this season: 10 games on FOX, 2 games each on CBS & ESPN, and 1 game each on NBC & NFLN. None of them will be shown on Comcast SportsNet. However, a little detail like that is not going to stop that channel from attempting to become Chicago's Bears' television headquarters! Comcast SportsNet is preparing to cover Chicago's favorite team and the NFL in numerous ways beginning this month.

Court Appoints Mediator To Help Unstick Tribune Bankruptcy Process

Another day, another story about the Tribune Company's struggles to exit bankruptcy and hold off a company-wide takeover from creditors. Today's news has to do the bankruptcy case receiving the help of a court appointed mediator.

With the bankruptcy case seemingly stalled and the most recent Tribune reorganization plan fallen apart and mired in controversy, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Kevin Carey has called for a non-binding mediation process to begin right away.

Five Star - The Chicago Tribune's Top Secret Newspaper Project Revealed

The Reader's Michael Miner has uncovered a top secret project of the Chicago Tribune's. The project is a new type of Sunday newspaper that is being called "Five Star" and it is the exact opposite of the Tribune's "RedEye." The paper will be printed on premium stock, with no ads, and featuring long, thought-out articles & columns. It will be a weekly paper, coming out on Sundays beginning in January. The premium newspaper will come with a premium price tag: $5 for Tribune subscribers to experience. More Changes For Suburban NextMedia Stations

It seems the only constant is change when it comes to NextMedia's suburban stations. Among the latest changes is the abrupt departure of Roger Piper, the General Sales Manager for the company's Joliet/Aurora cluster of stations. Piper's exit happened at the end of the day on Friday. He had been a GSM for MextMedia for five years.

Tribune Broadcasting Prepares To Launch All-Classic 'Antenna TV'

Tribune Broadcasting is going back to the future. They are preparing to launch an all new network, made up of classic programming and sent to homes over a classic transmission method. The new Tribune-owned network is "Antenna TV" and the company is looking at a January 3, 2011 launch date.

Steve Cochran on ESPN1000 Monday 9:00am-1:00pm

As mentioned on this very site last Wednesday in the News & Notes posting, Steve Cochran will be getting more airtime on ESPN1000. Tomorrow, Monday the 30th, Steve Cochran will be sitting in for Marc Silverman and guest hosting alongside Tom Waddle for the entire 9:00am-1:00pm shift.

New WBBM-TV Early Morning Show Premieres Tomorrow
