The Hunt For A New WGN-AM Program Director Continues

As first mentioned on this very website, WGN-AM released Bill White, the station's Director of Programming & News on Monday afternoon. This was done partially because new WGN Radio President and General Manager Jimmy de Castro had a replacement Program Director in mind and offered him the job. That plan did not work out, however.

16th Annual WXRT 'Blues Breakers' Blues Fest Broadcast Taking Place Wednesday

An annual local summer tradition is the Chicago Blues Festival, the largest free blues festival in the world, which takes place each June downtown. Another annual tradition is WXRT-FM's Blues Fest pre-party and "Blues Breakers" live remote, taking place the night before. Both of those annual traditions repeat again this week.

WMAQ-TV Offers Chicago Non-Profits Social Innovation Grants

WMAQ-TV/NBC 5 Chicago, partnering with the NBCUniversal Foundation, announced today that for the second year in a row, it is launching their grant program, 21st Century Solutions. As it did in 2012, the annual grant program will award three prizes totaling $100,000 to Chicago area non-profit organizations.

Marty Bender Named As New WILV-FM Program Director

Hubbard Radio Chicago has named veteran radio programmer Marty Bender as the newest Program Director for WILV-FM/Rewind 100.3. He begins his new role on Wednesday, June 5th.

Fallout Continues From Sun-Times' Decision To Release Photographers

On Thursday morning, Sun-Times Media made the controversial decision to eliminate virtually all of their staff photographers. Instead, reporters who never had to take pictures before are being asked to be photographers and videographers in addition to their writing. That decision of Sun-Times Media's made national headlines and sent shockwaves through the entire newspaper industry. It has also caused a great deal of anger.

WLS-TV's '190 North' Returns This Weekend With Branson, MO Special

ABC 7 Chicago's "190 North" makes its return this weekend, with a twist. Instead of focusing on local people and events, the show goes on the road, south and west to Missouri, for a 30-minute special.

Chicago Blackhawks Round 3 Playoffs Broadcast Schedule

The Chicago Blackhawks have once again advanced in the post-season on their quest to win the Stanley Cup -- now on to Round 3: the Western Conference Finals. For this round of the NHL playoffs, the team will face the reigning Stanley Cup Champions, the Los Angeles Kings. Fans will have to be aware of how to find where to watch or listen to the games, as they may jump around between stations.

Sun-Times Media Lays Off All Staff Photographers

Wrapports' Sun-Times Media, the parent company of the Chicago Sun-Times and numerous suburban publications, held a meeting this morning for all of its employed photographers. The photographers were told they were all laid off, effective immediately. They will not be replaced, as all photography positions had been eliminated.
