WIND-AM Signs Dan Proft To Multi-Year Extension

Salem Media Group's WIND-AM/AM 560 The Answer announced it has signed its morning show co-host Dan Proft to a contract extension that will keep him on the station's airwaves for a long time to come. Terms of the contract are not being revealed, other than to say it is a multi-year deal.

WDRV's 'Operation: Santa PAWS' w/ Sherman & Tingle Taking Place Friday

WDRV-FM/97.1 The Drive has partnered with PAWS Chicago to collect new toys, food, and cash donations for those animals who don't have homes or families for the holidays. On Friday, the station's new morning show hosts, Brian Sherman and Steve Tingle, will spend 12 hours overseeing the station's collection efforts, which is named "Operation: Santa PAWS."

Rush Limbaugh To Remain On WLS-AM For Three More Years

Despite persistent rumors to the contrary, Rush Limbaugh is not leaving WLS-AM 890. Cumulus Media and Premiere Networks announced Wednesday morning that the two sides have agreed upon a new three-year renewal deal that will keep "The Rush Limbaugh Show" on 33 Cumulus-operated radio stations, including WLS-AM in Chicago.

103.9 The Fox's 'Pat Capone's Ultimate Christmas Party' Coming Next Week

WFXF-FM/103.9 The Fox afternoon personality Patrick Capone is hosting a huge event in the western suburbs next week. "Pat Capone's Ultimate Christmas Party" will feature a live radio remote, plenty of live rock & roll music, comedians, wrestling, a toy/food drive, and much more.

Westwood One Ends Brandmeier's National Show Over Three Months Early

In October, Chicago radio legend Jonathon Brandmeier announced that Cumulus-owned syndication company Westwood One had chosen to not renew the contract for Brandmeier's nationally syndicated program. At the time, Brandmeier promised to work through the end of his deal, which concluded in March. As of today, Brandmeier's show is no longer being produced. The final live and all-new radio show of Brandmeier's for Westwood One occurred Monday, with only reruns being aired for the next few weeks before the show disappears for good.

WBEZ & WVON Team-Up For Live Radio Show About Chicago Violence

Public radio new/talk station WBEZ-FM 91.5 and Urban talk station WVON-AM 1690 will have a joint radio show on Wednesday morning entitled "The View From My Block." The live, three-hour program will be looking at how the ever-increasing violence in Chicago impacts the community.

WGN Radio Releases Commercial Manager Jason Skaggs

Jason Skaggs, one of the most highly-respected radio commercial creators in the business, was released by WGN-AM on Friday. His surprise exit was due to a new round of budget cutbacks happening again at WGN Radio. Skaggs had been with the station for nearly seven years.

ABC 7 Promotes Liz Nagy To Staff General Assignment Reporter

WLS-TV/ABC 7 brought on Liz Nagy as a general assignment reporter, beginning March 28th. At the time, she was working for the station on a freelance/per diem basis. As of today, Nagy has been hired by ABC Television as a full-time reporter.

NBC 5 & Telemundo Chicago's 'Chi-Town Rising' 2016-2017 Broadcasts Set

For the second consecutive year, WMAQ-TV/NBC 5 and WSNS-TV/Telemundo Chicago will have a live and local New Year's Eve broadcast, as the two stations are the official local television partners for Chicago's "Chi-Town Rising" event. More local hosts will be part of the broadcast this year, too.

WGN-TV's 14th Annual WGN Morning News Drive-Thru Toy Drive

WGN-TV's 14th Annual WGN Morning News Drive-Thru Toy Drive has kicked off. The toy drive will culminate in a big, five-hour television event on the morning of December 22nd. WGN-TV and those partnering up with the station are seeking to gather up thousands of toys to pass on to needy children in Chicago, right before Christmas.

Alpha Media Suburban Radio Station Staffers To Again Perform 'Wonderful Life' Live Play

Numerous on-air hosts and staffers from at least four Alpha Media-owned south suburban radio stations will be getting together Friday night to perform a radio play live on stage. This will be the 11th consecutive year that Alpha Media (previously Digity and NextMedia) stations have put on a production of "It's A Wonderful Life - Live Radio Broadcast."

Inspiration 1390's 'Biggest Give & Receive Holiday Jam' 2016 Event Happening Friday

As it does each December, WGRB-AM/Inspiration 1390 will be holding a giant holiday concert this week. Inspiration 1390's "Biggest Give & Receive Holiday Jam" is done to raise spirits, but also to collect toys and food for those in need during the year-end holidays.

WSCR To Celebrate 'The 12 Days Of Cubsmas' This Month

WSCR-AM/670 The Score has had an incredible 2016, thanks in large part to becoming the flagship radio home of the Chicago Cubs. Of course, the Chicago Cubs had an incredible 2016, as well, becoming World Series champions for the first time in 108 years. WSCR-AM has come up with a way to celebrate its 2016 ratings successes, pay tribute to the Cubs, and give a holiday present to Cubs fans. The sports station will be doing so with a promotion they are calling "The 12 Days of Cubsmas."

The 2016 US*99 Country Cares For St. Jude Kids Radiothon

WUSN-FM/US*99 is currently holding its 26th Annual Country Cares for St. Jude Kids Radiothon -- two days of live remote broadcasts to help raise funds and awareness for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The radiothon began this morning at 5:30am and will run until 7:00pm tonight, picking up once again tomorrow from 5:30am-7:00pm.

'Koolout Radio' Returns To WVON w/ Johnny Starks, Chris Base, Maya Akai, More

The fun weekend show "Koolout Radio," which had previously been heard on WVON-AM 1690 from 2008-2014 makes its return this weekend. Hosted by Chicago radio veteran Johnny "Koolout" Starks and featuring a huge ensemble cast, "Koolout Radio" will begin again Sunday, December 11th at 10:00pm. In addition to the "Koolout Radio" returning, plenty of familiar voices will also be coming back to WVON-AM as part of the show's cast.
