The Resurgence Of WCGO-AM 1590

WCGO-AM was once a low-powered suburban radio station with few listeners. A few years ago, it moved to a slightly stronger frequency, but still was a little-heard station. All that may soon be changing, as WCGO-AM will be broadcasting at increased wattage, with new branding, a new logo, new management, and a new focus on entertaining Chicago.

WMBI-FM To Launch New Morning Show With Karl & June

WMBI-FM/Moody Radio Chicago will be launching a brand new morning show next week starring Karl Clauson and June Felix. "Karl & June Mornings" will be heard weekdays from 5:00am-9:00am, beginning Monday, July 14th.

Changes At Chicago's 100.3 - Monzures Out, Carriveau Moves To Afternoons

Changes have come to WILV-FM/Chicago's 100.3 once again. Jane Monzures, who had been hosting afternoons since late January of this year, has exited the station. Cara Carriveau, who has been hosting nights on the station since January 2013, now takes over in afternoons. The changes are effective today.

Digity Releases WERV/WRXQ PD/DJ Zander

In a surprise move, Digity Chicago General Manager Brian Foster announced the immediate exit of Mark Zander -- the Program Director of both WERV-FM/95.9 The River and WRXQ-FM/Q Rock 100.7, as well as afternoon drive and weekend host on WERV-FM.

Tribune Company Seeking To Change Its Name

In 1847, a newspaper corporation was formed in Chicago named Tribune Company. It appears that in 2014, 167 years after it began, the Tribune Company name will be changed.

Chicago-Based Syndicated Programs 'The Rockin' 80s' & 'The Rockin' 70's' Come To An End

As of this past weekend, the long-running, nationally syndicated radio shows "The Rockin' 80's" and "The Rockin' 70's" have come to an end. The shows were produced locally and distributed nationally by Envision Networks.

WYLL-AM Rebranded As 'AM 1160 Hope for Your Life'

Salem Communications-owned religious talk station WYLL-AM has rebranded itself AM 1160 Hope for Your Life. The change, which actually began rolling out in the late spring, was made official this morning.

WSCR-AM To Host Boers & Bernstein 15th Anniversary Gala

WSCR-AM/670 The Score afternoon team of Terry Boers and Dan Bernstein are celebrating a decade and a half together as a top-rated team this summer, making their daily show the longest running Chicago sports talk program currently heard. Next month, The Score will be hosting "The Boers and Bernstein 15th Anniversary Party" at a downtown hotel. The major event will feature special guests, toasts (which may border on "roasts"), live music, food, drinks, and some special surprises.

WCPT-AM/FM's Norman Goldman To Broadcast From Three Chicago Locations Next Week

WCPT-AM/FM syndicated evening program, "The Norman Goldman Show," will be broadcasting live from Chicago for much of next week, with three days in a row coming from Chicagoland Italian restaurants. Fans are welcome to come be part of the live radio broadcasts.

Chicago Urban Radio Stations Again Team-Up For Anti-Gun Special

For the second month in a row, five different Chicago radio stations from three different radio corporations will all be airing the same special presentation. This will happen on Sunday night with a two-hour talk show called "Sunday Night Open Mic" and will be part of City of Chicago's new "Put The Guns Down" initiative.

Chicago-Based Sports Network Launches With New Shows & Hosts

120 Sports -- a Chicago-based, all-digital sports network with major connections and financial backing -- finally launched last week, after being first announced five months ago. Since its announcements of who would be part of the new network earlier in 2014, numerous more sports talents, including some well-known Chicago names, have been hired.

Jennifer Lyons Promoted To WGN-TV News Director

This morning, Greg Easterly, President and General Manager of WGN-TV announced that Jennifer Lyons has been named as the the station's new News Director. Since 2008, she had been the Assistant News Director, and since last week, the Interim News Director. Lyons' promotion is effective immediately.

WGN-TV To Broadcast Chicago 4th Of July Fireworks Special

On Friday night, WGN-TV will be the only local television station broadcasting Chicago's fireworks display from Navy Pier. The 30-minute special, entitled "Chicago's Summer Blast," will air on July 4th at 9:30pm on Chicago's Channel 9.
