Chicago White Sox's 2014 Regular Season Broadcast Schedule

The Chicago White Sox recently revealed their broadcast schedule for the upcoming 2014 season. As was the case last year, games will be seen on local television on Comcast SportsNet Chicago, WGN-TV, and WCIU-TV; seen on national television (potentially); and heard on the radio locally on WSCR-AM in English and on translator W248BB in Spanish.

Chicago Cubs' 2014 Regular Season Broadcast Schedule

The Chicago Cubs recently revealed their 2014 regular season broadcast schedule. As is always the case for one of the most popular teams in the league, the Chicago Cubs television and radio broadcasts for all 162 games will be easily available in the Chicagoland area, although the television schedule, with games appearing on numerous different networks and channels, could be difficult to keep track of.

Comcast SportsNet To Replay The Best Of Team USA Events From 2014 Olympic Games

Over the course of the next five Sundays, Comcast SportsNet Chicago will be rebroadcasting the best of Team USA's performances at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. "Team USA - Return to Sochi" begins next Sunday, March 9th.

Sun-Times Media Begins More Layoffs; Tina Akouris Released

As the newspaper industry continues to lose revenue and readership, the staff cutbacks continue along with it. Both of the major Chicago newspapers have seen serious cuts in the past year alone, and 2014 appears to be more of the same. Sun-Times Media has begun laying off more staffers this week. Among the names already cut is that of 14-year reporter/writer Tina Akouris.

ESPN 1000 To Launch New Weekly Chicago Fire Soccer Show

The "Men in Red" are coming to English language radio this month. Starting this weekend, WMVP-AM/ESPN 1000 will begin airing a weekly radio show dedicated to the Chicago Fire and Major League Soccer (MLS).

And The Oscar Goes To... ABC 7 Chicago

Sunday night, ABC-TV broadcast the 86th Annual Academy Awards. Nationwide, the broadcast was seen by an estimated 43 million people -- the most-watched Oscars telecast since 2004's 43.5 million viewers. As expected, the broadcast was a massive hit for the Chicago ABC television station, WLS-TV/ABC 7 Chicago, who easily won the ratings for the evening.

A Few Chicago TV Stations Can Claim Victory From February 2014 Ratings Sweeps

The nighttime newscasts for WLS-TV/ABC 7 Chicago and WMAQ-TV/NBC 5 Chicago can each claim to be big Nielsen ratings winners in the important February "sweeps" period, which ended last week, as can WGN-TV's morning newscast. It's all dependent on which part of the February ratings reports a station chooses to look at.

Local Businessman/Activist Urges The National Radio Hall Of Fame To Induct Chicago Radio's Richard Pegue

Richard Pegue, the Chicago radio DJ and programmer who was heard on the air from the 1950s until his death in 2009, was previously nominated for induction into the National Radio Hall of Fame (NRHOF). On the eve of the anniversary of Pegue's passing, a former co-worker of his, Mark S. Allen, has openly published his 2009 letter to Bruce DuMont and the NRHOF voting committee, in the hopes of urging them to re-nominate and finally induct Pegue this year.

Former WLS-AM Host Nate Clay Joins 'BaseLine With Chris Base' On Monday

Former WLS-AM host Nate Clay will make a rare return on Monday afternoon, this time as the special guest on the Internet radio show "BaseLine With Chris Base." It will be a radio reunion, as Chris Base was Nate Clay's first producer at WLS-AM in the early 1990s.

WXRT Celebrates Mardi Gras 2014

As it does every year, WXRT-FM/93XRT will celebrating Mardi Gras and the music of New Orleans with some special shows and features. The musical festivities begin on Monday night and run through almost all of Fat Tuesday.

Bart Shore's 'Time Warp Sunday Radio Request Show' Celebrates A Milestone

Chicago radio veteran Bart Shore has been doing his four to eight minute weekday "Time Warp Radio" podcasts since January 2009 and his 60 minute "Time Warp Sunday Radio Request Show" since the start of 2010. This Sunday, the "Time Warp Sunday Radio Request Show" celebrates its 200th edition. The show will be a special one, with guest requests coming in from some local media and musician greats.
