Dick Biondi Update

Dick has not been on 94.7 WLS FM during his weekend shift for over 2 months. Jeff Davis has been filling in. Obviously Dick is a legend and a national treasure and I always listened to him live and local during the weekend mornings. Jeff is voiced tracked and sounds so bland in comparison and not enjoyable to me.

I am amazed that no one has written about his absence. I am assuming he has a serious medical issue but I am hoping he comes back soon.

Does any one have any information about Dick? Thanks in advance!

I have been wondering the same thing. The last time I heard Dick on WLS-FM was on April 1st.
If anyone has any information please pass it along.
I hope & pray for Dick's good health.

I don't recall where I read this, but there was a story a couple weeks back regarding the staff cuts at WLS saying that Biondi is recovering from a problem with his back and will be back "in the near future".

    Wishing him a healthy recovery!

You can ask...but they won't say anything beyond the boilerplate reply or previously released comment.

Remember, talent are still people like you and me and they're equally entitled to privacy off the air as well. Much like Hubbard is handling the absence of Ms. Hart from their morning show. Something far more pressing in the world of Chicago radio.

I will say I worked with Dick for a few years and I know he'd want to be back on the air if he could. That's simply baked into his DNA.

Sure he's slowing down and maybe loosing the edge. But quite frankly, he should by all accounts be retired. If his photographic memory is still half of what it was 10 years ago, he's still better off than 90% of us at any age despite the fact his body is becoming more frail.

He had a problem with his leg.

I believe he stood during his WLS shift. Yes I know that's an easy fix, put up a chair, but it's probably better to be safe than sorry and stay off it until it heals.
